Simple Christmas Ornaments

(or Coasters or Gift Tags or Frisbees....oh wait)

I just got in a really nice Christmas Panel. There are 18 different designs that are 6". I made up these quick Ornaments

For each ornament you will need:

Panel trimmed to 1/4" outside of the striped border that is printed around each square. It was approximately 6" square.
(1) 6" print for backing

From batting cut
(2) 5-1/2" squares (1) 5" square  (1) 4-1/2" square  (1) 4" square

6" piece of ribbon or cord for hanging tab

Fold ribbin in half and pin to the top center of the 6" panel square.

Lay the panel square and the backing square Right Sides Together

Lay (1) 5-1/2" batting square centered on the Wrong side of the Backing Fabric Square.

Place each smaller batting square centered on the previous batting square then top with the second 5-1/2" square

Pin the batting and fabrics together or use spray adhesive to prevent shifting

Flip the project over and using the printed border as a guide stitch through all layers. Being sure to leave a 2-1/4 opening on the bottom. Take care when turning the corners too.

Make sure that you have caught the batting on the back side.

Then clip the corners and turn Right Side Out.

Using blunt scissors push the corners out.
Pin the opening and whip stitch closed.

Now it's time to fancy it up. Using a larger stitch length and a thread color that matches or complements, stitch as desire.

I chose to stitch around the little border and also followed the printed design in the center.

Get creative, pleat a wider ribbon around the edges or just the top. Fancy it up with decorative yarn or some hand stitching.

:) Happy sewing
