Jelly Roll Quilt

Well I'm very excited! Yesterday I finished a jelly roll quilt pattern. I came across a Moda blog where there was a Jelly Roll Quilt Competition. I wanted to come up with a pattern for Jelly's anyway so this was the perfect motivation! I came up with a preliminary idea and went to work with one of my favorite Moda lines, Cotton Blossom. Well after the initial make-up I had to make some changes, I just didn't think it was competition worthy. Did some more figuring and calculations and came up with a newer bigger and better pattern! (Of course writing about it now makes it sound really easy. It took a full month.) And I wanted to be frugal and not just buy up a bunch of fabric and hope for the best. How many times have you just gotten enough to work up what you think you want and then when you get to it you change your mind and find out you need more. With the cost of shipping I figured I had to be a little more precise. I think Mr. Collins my high school math teacher would be SO proud that I get to use math on a daily basis. Well, measurements written and ideas ready I found a site that had a newer Jelly Roll in very summery colors and ordered a roll and the yardage to go with it, so after all the figuring and drawing and calculating I was ready to sew! I think it turned out really well. I got step by step pictures and the pattern sent in. Sometime late July they will announce the winners. It was actually sponsored by a publishing company in the U.K. I suppose they are looking for new designers. How cool would that be! Well even if it doesn't work out I've still got a new pattern to release in August. So everything works out anyways! God is good. :)

Looking to do more finishing work to get the house ready for the quilting machine and daily upkeep and changes on the website. If you haven't stopped by and signed up for the newsletter (down at the very bottom of the page), please do so. I will get the pages ready soon to start making that a monthly mail out.
